Technology from Ideas (TfI) is an Irish seed investment and commercialisation company that specialises in conducting proof of concept development on early stage, technology based ideas submitted by academic researchers.

The Challenge

Successful companies in this space need to utilise a wide network of unique and differing skills that can be difficult to efficiently develop in house. Managing and optimising investment in a pipeline of incoming early stage technologies, requires careful balancing of resources and risk. ClearviewIP’s significant experience was sought to assist with this challenge and to also bring additional resources to the evaluation and presentation of some of the key technologies.

The Outcome

ClearViewIP assisted TfI in validating and enhancing its selection processes and supported this with hands-on engagement with prospective licensees. Focusing on the evaluation and market testing of a specific new encoding technology, we recommended where market access may be sought in the future once the value proposition fully develops. Key to this was knowing when to delay making further investment.
