Kathryn Rickard – Technical Director

Kathryn combines her thorough and practical knowledge of engineering development and Intellectual Property to help our clients protect their innovative ideas.

She works with clients to assess how their technology relates to the rest of the market from an IP dimension, intelligently using a variety of search techniques. Then she helps to identify the ideas that have key value to the business and the best way to protect them. Where access to third party IP might be appropriate, advice and help from all the team is sought to ensure the client benefits from decades of IP expertise.

Before joining ClearViewIP, Kathryn was Intellectual Property Manager for Xyratex, responsible for the IP processes, management systems, strategy and education. Prior to this, Kathryn spent 19 years as a senior hardware development engineer for Xyratex and IBM, specialising in networking and video technologies.

Kathryn has an MA in engineering from the University of Cambridge. She holds 3 patents and 4 patent applications.

“Let me
help you protect your Investment!”

“As an engineer myself I understand the pressures involved in meeting product deadlines. Most engineers take pride in their work and appreciate the need to protect their innovation. However getting the product to market on time is their highest priority and IP is often left on the ‘to do’ list.

You often hear clients say “It’s obvious!” As an expert in your field it is easy to underestimate the novelty and value of your ideas - others will not. Don’t lose your R&D investment - protect it!”
