Josue Ortiz joins ClearViewIP
17th January 2012
ClearViewIP is delighted to announce that Josue Ortiz has joined the company, based out of the UK, in the role of Senior Consultant. Josue brings a wealth of expertise in the analysis and commercialisation of patents, backed by incisive analytical business acumen, broad technological fluency, deep IP knowledge and proven execution capabilities. Josue reinforces the core values of ClearViewIP, bringing sound patent expertise, commercial and market knowledge together with a focus on the ability to complete transactions to achieve real value for our clients from their IP assets.
Prior to joining ClearViewIP, Josue has been running and leading end-to-end intellectual property programs across the U.S.A, Canada and Europe for the last twelve years. These programs have involved the design of portfolio development strategies, including internal patent filings and patent acquisitions; business-driven patent prosecution with a clear objective to the eventual value extraction from the patent assets; the design of commercialization strategies; the development of comprehensive marketing materials including valuation, infringement and validity arguments; and the actual monetization of IP assets through auctions, license agreements, targeted patent sales, and patent litigation strategies.
In 2006 Mr. Ortiz founded Transtellum, an IP Business Consultancy firm. Until December 2011 Transtellum provided advice for a range of clients in North America and Europe related to patent acquisitions and monetization; implemented its own recommendations to successfully extract value from patent assets; and collaborated with other entities, including ClearViewIP and Coller Capital.
Before founding Transtellum, Josue spent seven years with BTG International, initially based out of Philadelphia and then out of London, UK, where he entered the IP field and quickly progressed to leadership positions. Josue joined BTG International after a span in academic research in the areas of parallel processing and antennas. He has been a featured speaker in various conferences related to IP, technology transfer and multimedia technologies. Josue holds a B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, an M.S.E in Telecommunications and Networking from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A from IPADE Business School in Mexico City.
