This weekend, Colin Hunsley
traveled to Moscow for the annual Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) Management & Delegates' Meeting (IMDM)
which precedes the LESI Annual Conference. LESI is an association of 32 national and regional member societies comprised of individuals who have expertise in the field of intellectual property licensing, commercialisation and technology transfer.
Colin has been a key figure of the Licensing Executives Society' Britain & Ireland chapter (LES B&I
) for a number of years, speaking at seminars and workshops and more recently co-chairing the LES Healthcare committee, to support IP commercialisation in the medical fields, in both Life Sciences and Medical Devices.
Colin's active role in LES B&I means he is a regular face at many of the LES events internationally but his presence at the LESI Conference in Moscow this weekend marked the first in his lead up to becoming Vice President of the LES B&I. His Vice Presidency was announced internally to the current LES team back in April and he will officially take up the position in the coming months. With his wealth of experience in IP commercialisation and his contributions to LES and other societies, it was no wonder that Colin was identified as the ideal candidate.
was previously a Chairman of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Medical Engineering Division
where he was responsible for overseeing a range of lectures, conferences and seminars to increase interest from the organisation's members. These included world leading conferences on the development of hip and knee replacements and the rapid growth of an incontinence interest group which has resulted in subsequent improvements in patient solutions. He has also presented for a range of organisations including Shanghai International Property Forum, The Patent Office of The Republic of Poland
, Kaplan Hawkesmere, CIPA, PraxisUnico and IEEPI. More significantly perhaps, Colin has also been internationally recognised for his IP Strategy
expertise by his appointment to the IAM 300 for four consecutive years
In his new role as Vice President, his main goal is to grow and encourage membership amongst the many technology companies in the UK and Ireland. His experience of working closely with a number of these leading technology companies means he has first-hand experience of the significant and vital role licensing plays
in their operations. Colin hopes to reach out to the current and next generation of technology and licensing experts and encourage more technology companies to participate in events to further grow and influence the LES community.
You can meet Colin and the other LES members at the upcoming LES B&I Annual Conference & AGMwhich takes place in London on 12th June.
